Missing : Two Front Teeth

Hayden came home from school...without his other front tooth!

OK, so he had it, just not in his mouth, which was where it dangled when I put him on the bus. He pulled it out during reading, and then enjoyed the rest of the day as a mini-1st-grade celebrity.

I love the gap-toothed grin, but he says I better not get used to it. He can already feel his big teeth coming in.

Who stole The Monkey Lisa?

Bayley came home with this prompted writing assignment. It cracked me up!

Who Took The Monkey Lisa?

Someone had stolen The Monkey Lisa, the most famous painting in the world.

Mike Monk, head of the Chimp City Museum, shouted, “We
need Super Monkey!”

Super Monkey appeared in a flash.

“Don’t worry!” he told everyone. Super Monkey is here! Then he…

…flipped open his cell phone and pressed a button, turning on the blacklight. He shone it on the floor and big paw prints glowed bright green on the red velvet carpet. He picked up a small tuft of bright orange hair from the floor.

As soon as Super Monkey felt the bristly hair, he exclaimed, “That evil cat! Don’t worry, Mike, I will solve this.”

He flew off to Banana Lane and met up with his sidekick, Boomanana. The light brown monkey wore a yellow vest and liked to carry a yellow banana that was secretly a boomerang. Boomanana was also specially trained in karate.

“Boomy, The Monkey Lisa has been stolen by the cat army,” said Super Monkey. “Let’s go to Tuna Road and get it back.”

So Boomy took out a small blue boomerang from one of his vest pockets and pressed a button on it and threw it on the ground. The boomerang transformed into a floating spaceship. It had a blue hull, two twin banana cannons and ten powerful coco-launchers. The Coco-launchers were bright green canons with five rows of gold stars.

Boomy took out another boomerang from his pocket, only purple this time. He pressed a button on the boomerang and they instantly teleported inside the cabin of the spaceship.

“I see you upgraded the Boomacruiser,” said Super Monkey.

Boomy said nothing as he expertly piloted the Boomacruiser until it was hovering right above Tuna Lane. Boomanana pressed a button on the dashboard that put the ship into auto-attack mode which destroyed the cat army’s cloaking device.

Explosives went flying in all directions as the two heroes jumped out of the ship and attacked the bright orange mutant cats that served the evil cat king. As the battle reached the five hour point, Boomy spotted The Monkey Lisa. He threw a black boomerang at The Monkey Lisa which slid underneath the painting and carried it back up into the ship’s open hold.

Boomanana and Super Monkey used their vine cables to get into the ship. With The Monkey Lisa now neatly balanced on the black boomerang, there was nothing to worry about as they flew away.

When they got to Chimp City Museum they gave the painting to Mike Monk. But as soon as the painting was in safe hands, they heard a cry for help.

Super Monkey thought, “Here we go again!”

Hayden's First Extraction

Hayden was so excited to see Miss Katie today. He's been working on his front tooth for weeks, but it wouldn't budge. Within seconds of her walking in the door, Hayden asked her to pull his tooth out. So...she did :)

Wonder how much the bill will be? I hope she takes our insurance!!

T Ball!

Hayden had his first T-Ball game today! Aunt Christina was nice enough to come by with her super-camera and take pictures.

In T-Ball there is no score, no outs. Both teams go through their batting line-up twice. His coach promise dthe team ice-cream if they paid attention and could make an out. The made 6 in the first inning, 2 in the second and final inning. Looks like ice cream is on the agenda for Wednesdays game!

Hayden is the lead-off batter for his team. He loves hitting the ball as far as he can. He would like to make a home-run, but in T-Ball, you move one base at a time.

The family was glad it wasn't raining, but the wind had a bite to it! Grace's cheeks were quite rosy by the end of the game. Uncle Dan interviewed Grace to keep her entertained - she wasn't a very interesting subject, the answer to every question was 'No!'

Uncle Dan has video! (I'll add that later.)

For the second inning Hayden got to play 1st base. It was great to watch him realize that they'd get more outs if they worked together. Rather than Hayden chasing down the ball and running back to the base, he learned it was much faster to let the pitcher or short stop throw him the ball, and then he got to throw it back to home plate.

I think he was thrilled by the whole thing. I mean, look at this, the kid was walking on air by the end of the game!

Easter At Grandma's!

After the diva took a nap to reset herself, we headed over the highway and through the woods to Grandma's house. The boys immediately went looking for their baskets - and the eggs!

You see, Grandma hides money in her eggs. The boys start dreaming about big ticket items as soon as the Easter candy hits the shelves. Bayley wants a certain DS game, and Hayden is still saving for his DS. I think Bayley might have enough, and now Hayden is closer than ever -- as long as he doesn't buckle and blow it all on Bakugan.

Grace wanted the candy in the boys eggs, but she wasn't interested in hunting for eggs. She was much happier with the bunny in her basket...but I think we left him there! (We leave the baskets at Grandma's for next year)

And Daddy really should give in and let us buy that piano...

Cookie Dough

The boys want me to remind the world that they are selling $15 buckets of cookie dough. Um...yeah.

Egg Hunt!

We treked out to the Fabulous Freeman's for a Fun egg hunt! It's too bad it's not F weeks (we're on G). They have one of those big, sprawling yards, the kind you so rarely find anymore. It was like having our egg hunt in a private park...except better. There was a fort!

The kids went a little crazy, but that was OK. Egg hunts are supposed to be fun after all! The day was cut short by one of Gracie's signature tantrums. she was good as gold as soon as she got in the car. She wanted to leave. Now. I'm not sure what to do in those situations. She wants to leave, so she throws a fit until we're so embarassed we remove her -- giving her exactly what she wants. I just...don't know what to do about that.

The Baby Shower!

Our entire family is beyond excited for our latest edition, who will be making her appearance some time in June! (My brother & his wife are expecting a little girl.) Today was the baby shower. Aunt Courtney handled the pictures, but I couldn't help but snap a few of Grace as she enjoyed her first baby shower as a non-infant.

She thought it was great to have so many shoes to try on.

She thought the gift table made an excellent fort.

And she loved how everyone told her how pretty she was in her dress.

Egg Party!

Since the Hyppster's moved to Oregon, Miss Tina has been having an egg dying party for the kiddos. Today's venture included some decorating ideas Miss Paula got from Martha Stewart...she and Bayley made them work...the rest of the kiddos, not so much!

Grace even got in on the egg dipping action, for a minute. I was afraid she was going to spill dye everywhere!
