Mindbender Mansion

We took the kiddos to OMSI member night so Bayley could see their new exibit, Mindbender Mansion. It is filled with logic puzzles, which are his thing right now. He loved it. He was also excited that planetarium shows were free on member night. He's been wanting to see Cosmic Collisions, you know. Well, you do now!

Grace was less than impressed. She did like the planetarium show. Perhaps we have a budding astronomer on our hands!

Hayden wasn't into the puzzles or the planetarium. He wanted to go up to the Science playground and play in the water. And get his face painted...like a jaguar.

Young Artists

Art is Bayley's favorite subject. They try to have projects at school, but he can't get enough. Lucky for us, the local parks & rec has kid art classes...and this month they are held at the arts center in an art studio! It's been so long since we were able to take something off the 101 things to do before you turn 12 list, I nearly forgot to do it!

Neighborhood Craft Day

The neighborhood kiddos are making these Pumpkin Shirts...they are so excited. Step one was dying the shirts, which Miss Molly handled. On Friday, they'll put jack-o-lantern faces in the circles.

First the t-shirts had to be rubber banded, then dunked in the hot dye.

Next came the rinse...sadly for Miss Molly, the kiddos didn't have much of an attention span for this part. Every one of them wound up squirting her.

Then they had to take the rubber bands off.

Finally, they got a peek at the finished product. Well, this part was finished. the shirts have to dry before they jack-o-lantern faces go on.

Gracie's Check-up

The boys need to get the Flu-Mist vaccine. Yes, it was Gracie's appointment, but the doctor thinks keeping the boys as healthy as possible is our best bet to keep the baby from catching so many colds.

She was 27 inches long, 18 pounds 1 oz. Smaller than the boys, but still above the 100th percentile on the growth charts. I wasn't meant to have charted babies, it seems.

4 months later...

She has a cold, so we laid them yin and yang...but later I realized that's how we did it for their first picture together. So I should say I planned it.

Tomorrow is Grace's 4 month check-up. Shall we take bets on how much she weighs?

Fun Run...

You know how I've bragged that my kids go to a school that doesn't pimp them out as door-to-door salesmen? Yeah...well, they're turning them into mini-fundraisers with a 'Fun Run'. The kids are supposed to get people to sponsor them per lap or a flat donation to help raise money for the school.

So...wanna be a donor? Jeff is hoping no one does it and they go back to the way the former principal handled things. But odds are people will do it, and I don't want the boys to have empty envelopes. That's embarassing.

big sigh here...

Thar She Rolls!

Like many amazing discoveries, Grace realized by accident she could roll over. She likes to sccot around on her back by tossing her legs from side to side...and then...kerplunk! Hayden was so excited.
I don't think Grace was as impressed. At first she just started at her mat in disbelief.
Then she finally figured out how to get her other arm free.
Once she realized she could lift her head up and look around she was much proder of her accomplishment...until she realized she was stuck that way and didn't know how to scoot around the way she can on her back.

I don't think she has any idea how it happened, or any inclination to try for a repeat performance. Still...the girl has rolled.

Back To School

The boys headed back to school on Tuesday. Bayley is back to his regularly scheduled life, Hayden had an hour to get used to kindergarten. He was a bit annoyed he didn't get to go on the new playground.

Today Hayden starts going every day. He has been talking non-stop about his teacher, and how he gets recess and center time (free play) every day. Poor kid, he'll be crushed when they want him to learn something! At least his friend Ashling is there to tell him it will be alright. I do hope they are on the same bus coming home...

She's a Keeper

Grace had this shirt on for about 5 minutes...before she spit up on it. We moved her to the 9 month size clothes a few weeks ago. She has so many I couldn't hang them all! Good thing, because the girl burns through clothes as fast as Hayden.
