Hat-tastic!

Grace loves "pretty" hats. I don't know how pretty anything is that comes from the dollar store, but she loves them. She has a "pretty blue" one from last spring, and her new "hot pink" one. I find her hat affection adorable, until she decides that I too must wear one.

She was on full-on "I'm 2" mode for today's visit with Nicky. He's so sweet, he had a look of concern every time she threw a fit. He's so nice, he even let her snatch back her binoculars everytime he tried to look at them. He even waited for her to discard them, but she took them back every time she noticed.

My favorite moment was when Nicky packed Grace's bejeweled purse with the binoculars and Rogue's half-chewed bone, and went to the door - ready to go with the things he couldn't seem to play with at the house!

Grace & Nick

While Nick was over for a playdate, Gracie was being all cute passing out hugs and saying "Hugs are nice." I got one, Auntie Kim got one, Grandma Terri got one, and then she tried to give one to Nick and bowled him over. He was fine with it, until she decided it was fun to knock him over. Yeah...

She did try and make it up to him, kinda. She showed him her Yo Gabba Gabba's...but wasn't so keen on letting him actually touch them. She looked through all her toys and couldn't see a thing she thought he'd want to play with, even though he was quite enthralled with the play ice cream...

Finally she decided she could show him the underside of the living room rug. Um...Ta Da? Really Grace? Nick thinks you can do better.

Playdates

Grace and Nick got to play together again...well, Nick played and Grace tried to tackle him and steal his toys. I think she's a baby bully!

Lucky for Grace, Nick was so enthralled with her plethora of toys, he didn't care much that the one she wanted to play with was always the one in his hand.

Baby Play Date

Grace and Nick hung out this afternoon... I can't believe how much hair he has...maybe some day Grace will get a barrette.

Their Heads!

Kim was out and about today, so she stopped by with the boys. I got the cutest picture of Grace & Nick...except I cut off the tops of their heads.
I wonder what they'd talk about if they had words...maybe something along the lines of -- is your mom trying to get you to sit up? Have you tried peas? I'm a fan of pears...and clapping...want to try my new Jumperoo?

The Hawk Is Back!

Nick's mohawk fell for a few weeks, but now it's back in effect. New hair is holding up the ultrafine newborn hair and he is a rockstar once again!

While he was here, he discovered something weird on the side of Grace's head...an ear!

You'd think...

I'd remember to put them on the same blanket each time so y'all could see how long they are getting...one of these times I'll get it right. Likely when they start crawling off the blanket...

Zoo-Rific

School was out and it wasn't raining...so even though it was a bit chilly we headed to the zoo to check out the new frog exhibit and the baby elephant. Grace & Nick got to ride around all bundled up in their new strollers.

Bayley just finished reading Eve of the Emporer Penguin, so he wanted to make sure we saw the penguins. We usually skip it as I'm not fond of the smell...I'm not sure what was in that book, but it seems Bayley has learned how to taunt penguins with the zoo map...maybe he's trying to show them how to escape?

The frog exibit was heated! The different kinds of frogs were great too, but it was a chilly day so the heat was a bonus. The boys enjoyed climbing on the giant frog side as much as looking at the different kinds of frogs.

The baby elephant was as cute as I hoped. It was amazing how he was able to walk beneath his mother without her tripping over him. I trip over my boys all the time.

The zoo is under construction -- lions are promised next year. It means I can't take my usual route around the place, and Hayden panics that he will miss his hippos. Once he got to see them, he was thrilled to find they had sauntered out of the water.

The boys wanted a Zoo Key - a key that lets the animal exhibits play a recorded message about the animals. They didn't seem to listen to what was said, but they wanted to be the one to turn the key. Anyone think the key will make a second trip to the zoo?

4 months later...

She has a cold, so we laid them yin and yang...but later I realized that's how we did it for their first picture together. So I should say I planned it.

Tomorrow is Grace's 4 month check-up. Shall we take bets on how much she weighs?

Out Of This World!

We couldn't resist taking a few shots of the babies together, even though we were at the pizza place with the bounce houses and ginormous slide. The wee ones dutifully perched on the table top to indulge us.

I wonder when they'll get sick of it and start objecting...probably never. They are smart enough that once they learn to roll, they'll just roll away from each other.

Grace's new trick is to blow spit bubbles...until she has a drool 'stache!

Sonic

Auntie Kim decided it was high time we learn the bliss that comes from the Sonic. Hayden is impressed with the citrus launcher, he only wishes he could shoot it at people. Yeah. I agree there is a bit of heaven in the chocolate cream pie shake.

We stretched the kiddos out and saw that Grace and Nick are the same length, there's just more to her :)

Lean On Me

They aren't quite sitting up yet, but haven't they grown? Grace was 14 lb, 6 oz today at her 2 month check-up!
